LOS ANGELES, CA.- L2kontemporary Gallery presents the second solo exhibition of new work by Los Angeles based sculptor Steven Simon. Steven has never been hesitant to explore the political landscape through his artwork, and this exhibition continues in that vein, offering political commentary based on examination of the artist’s concerns and trepidations. And as is the norm for Simon, he utilizes a plethora of artistic methods and materials.

An example of this can be seen in three large sculptural “paintings” which will be on view all of which demonstrate the beauty, and fragility, of living coral reefs. Created from tens of thousands of pieces of painted pasta and other materials, these gorgeously colored installations are Steven’s continuing research into altering visual perceptions, as well as commentary on the ecological state of the environment today.

The exhibition also offers contemplations of various current domestic issues, including Cheney 2012?, Queen Michelle/Queen Condi and Formerly Blackwater; while yet another work, Lymphoma, addresses an issue that is very personal. The show will remain on view through April 10, 2010.

Perhaps (n): something open to doubt or conjecture
Perhaps (adv): possibly but not certainly; could be, it may happen, be so, etc.; maybe, conceivably, as the case may be, perchance, feasibly, for all you know
