Tel Aviv Museum of Art Announces 12th Felicja Blumental International Music Festival

TEL AVIV.- The Tel Aviv Museum of Art is presenting for the 12th year The Felicja Blumental International Music Festival during May 2010. Foujita and van Dongen portraits of the late great Polish Brazilian pianist will be exhibited at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art.

Throughout the six days there will be a colourful selection of works presented by great musicians and ensembles from all over the world. The program will include chamber music, orchestral concerts, recitals, movies and family programs – as well as the annual Guitar Week.

This year the Festival will feature works by Handel, Villa Lobos, Moshe Zorman and Django Reinhardt and it will also have a special celebration for Chopin’s 200th Anniversary.

Highlights of the festival:

• Chopin and Opera Insane with Lilya Zilberstein (Germany), piano, Dudi Zeba, conductor and actor and Kibbutz Chamber Orchestra.

• Handel - ‘Acis & Galatea’ with Dunedin Consort (Scotland), John Butt, director. Susan Hamilton, soprano; Dan Auchincloss, tenor; Thomas Hobbs, tenor; Simon Wall, tenor Matthew Brook, bass.

• A date with Chopin “Suits of Nocturnes, Preludes and Etudes” by Chopin in two different sessions with Keren Mor, actress and pianists: Lilya Zilberstein (Germany/ Russia), Revital Hachamoff, Ariel Halevi, Tomer Gwirtzman.

• Dialogues of the Soul with Dunedin Consort (UK), Director: John Butt. Susan Hamilton, soprano; Matthew Brook, bass.

• Bereshit Betzlilim. Chamber Opera for the Family (four shows).

• Guitar Recitals with Tania Chagnot (France) and Anabel Montesinos (Spain)

• Django Jazz. Nomy Rozenberg (Holland), guitar and Israeli trio Swing de Gitanes.

• The Brazilian Guitar Quartet with Works by Villa Lobos and Albeniz.
