NEW YORK, NY.- The Salmagundi Club will host the third annual American Masters at SCNY on May 7th, featuring many of the nations finest artists from Richard Schmid to John Stobart. Proceeds from the show and sale will benefit the Salmagundi Club, one of New York Citys oldest and most valued historic art institutions.
The 2010 American Masters welcomes back many of last years artists and several new faces as well. The show and sale includes works from artists Bill Anton, Christopher Blossom, Scott Christensen, David Leffel, Walter Matia, Dean Mitchell, Thomas Quinn, Tucker Smith, Curt Walters and 37 others. Artists new to the show include Nancy Guzik, Quang Ho, Kevin Macpherson, Daniel Pinkham, and Daniel Smith.
Were thrilled to have American Masters back for the third year. In the footsteps of last years success, were looking forward to a phenomenal show, said Tim Newton, founder and curator of the event.
The Salmagundi Club has served as a center of fine art since 1871 and continues to be a treasured place for artists, collectors and the public.
Bringing this show to Manhattan was long overdue. The American Masters event will be a tradition here at the Salmagundi Club for years to come, added Newton.
Of special note is a one man exhibition by the legendary Richard Schmid. As our Honored Master Artist, Mr. Schmid will be exhibiting approximately 25 original drawings, many from his recently published book, The Landscapes. These works are for sale and will give attendees a rare opportunity to see (and own) a body of Schmids extraordinary work. This exhibition will be in the elegantly renovated Patrons Gallery at the Club.
The exhibition will be on view from May 5th through May 16th. The American Masters Gala will be held May 7th, 2010 from 5:30PM to 9:00PM.
