SARASOTA, FL.- The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art has appointed Scott Gardiner to manage the public and media relations strategy for the Museum of Art, Cà d’Zan, Circus Museum; Historic Asolo Theater, and grounds and gardens.

“Scott Gardiner comes to The Ringling Museum with more than 10 years experience leading public relations, marketing and employee communications for top agency, family businesses and corporations based in New York, New Jersey, Wisconsin, Virginia and Florida,” said Pam Fendt, Chief of Marketing and Communications. “His extensive communications background, contacts and arts appreciation borne out of his world travels will help further the Museum’s profile as a world-class center for the arts.”

Gardiner managed communication programs for SC Johnson, Global Crossing, SONY and several Fortune 1000 clients of Edelman Public Relations. Following his move to Florida in 2009, he oversaw the launch of a new luxury lodge in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. The Swiss-style chalet features American Indian and aboriginal art, in addition to many historic photographs of the nineteenth century.
Previously, he worked for SC Johnson in Racine, Wisconsin. He enhanced their position as an environmental leader communicating SC Johnson’s innovative use of new renewable energy sources to key environmental organizations, public interest groups and the media. Additionally, he contributed to the launch of SC Johnson’s industry-leading ingredient communication program.

Before, Gardiner led product marketing communications, public relations and employee communications for the conferencing division of Global Crossing, a leading telecommunications provider based in Florham Park, New Jersey. As communications strategist with SONY in Park Ridge, New Jersey, he managed the reputation and product introductions for more than 10 business units. He also wrote cover and feature stories for Network, Sony’s business-to-business magazine.

During his six years with Edelman Public Relations Worldwide in New York, he was instrumental in carving out a leadership position for Fuji Photo Film in the late 1990s in the emerging hand-held, megapixel digital camera category. In the mid 1990s, he also grew the reputation of other corporate clients of Edelman, such as Samsung, familiarizing the U.S. media on the Korean company’s extensive holdings and efforts to become a household name.

Gardiner currently lives in Venice, Fla. He graduated from New York Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Sciences Degree in Business Administration/Marketing. He is also fluent in French.
