Everson Celebrates 100th Anniversary of Renowned Ceramic Masterpiece

SYRACUSE, NY.- The Everson Museum of Art celebrates the 100th Anniversary of Adelaide Alsop Robineau’s Scarab Vase. A special exhibition in honor of the anniversary will be on view at the museum, located at 401 Harrison St., Syracuse, NY from June 12 – August 29, 2010.

The Scarab Vase – Celebrating 100 Years is organized by the Everson Museum of Art, the Syracuse Ceramic Guild, the Strathmore Neighborhood Association and Clayscapes. The celebratory exhibition at the Everson coincides with the Strathmore Festival and Art on the Porches, held from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on June 19, 2010 on Robineau Rd., Syracuse.

“We are very excited to honor the 100th Anniversary of the Scarab Vase through this community wide commemorative event,” said Debora Ryan, Everson Museum of Art senior curator. “It is very fitting that we highlight Robineau’s masterwork at the Museum, while at the same time the celebrating with the community at the home and neighborhood where the artist lived and worked.”

The Scarab Vase – Celebrating 100 Years will feature works by Robineau such as her famous Viking and Crab Vases. Approximately 75 pieces by Robineau are on permanent display in the Everson’s Syracuse China Center for the Study of Ceramics located on the lower level of the museum. A selection of these will be highlighted in the special exhibition on the main level. In addition to these important works, carved porcelain vases selected from a national competition will be on view at the Everson and Clayscapes Gallery on E. Fayette Street, Syracuse.
