MADRID.- PHotoEspaña and OjodePez Magazine announce the winning work of the 3rd edition of the prize PHotoEspaña OjodePez Human Values Award, with which they recognize a work of documentary photography that should emphasize the values of solidarity, ethics, justice or effort. The prize consists of 6.000 Euros, a solo exhibition of the images of the winner and the publication of the winning series in the special autumn issue of OjodePez Magazine.

The winner of the 3rd edition of PHotoEspaña OjodePez Human Values Award is the Italian photographer Giuseppe Moccia for his series The Wednesday Kid. The winning work approaches the life of Christopher, a 18-year-old young boy with Down Syndrome. This circumstance positions him at the crossroads of two very different realities. On the one hand, he is able to communicate effectively both verbally and physically. But on the other hand he lacks some of the critical adaptive skills such as self-care, home living and functional academics, daily living skills needed to live, work and play in society. The international jury have been made up Alejandro Castellanos, México DF Image Center director; Dewi Lewis, Dewi Lewis Publishing director; Karol Hordziej, Photomonth curator, from Cracovia; and Arianna Rinaldo, OjodePez director, who consider that the series shows a big complicity and intense proximity with Christopher. The series talks about the social inclusion; it doesn´t emphasized the negative and neither doesn´t falsify the positive points of Christopher reality.

Giuseppe Moccia (Naples, Italy, 1978)grew up in Rome, where he is currently living. He got a degree in International Economy in Milan University. During his university period he traveled all around Europe, África, United States and South America. On 2005 he started to work with Associated Press in Rome and he obtained a schorarship in Ansa Agency. On 2006 he participated in Toscana Photography Workshop and he did a report in CISP Non about Bosnian youth people. On 2007 March he showed his first solo exhibition in Trip Galery in Naples and he was selected for the first photographic workshops of FocusOnMonferrato. After, He started a project to Bryan Cave LLP in Milan about the Italian landscape.
