COPENHAGEN.- Be guided around the world of a crime novel, see performances in prize-winning apartments or take a guided "tour de chambre" in the galleries of Copenhagen. Kopenhagen Contemporary invites you into the crazy world of art from 2 to 5 September.

Paintings, installations, sculptures, photographs, videos and performances. Kopenhagen Contemporary has it all over an extended weekend in September.

This year it is the third year in a row that Wonderful Copenhagen, in collaboration with Kopenhagen Publishing, is focusing on contemporary art. And it promises to be a roaring success, with this year's programme putting performing arts at eye level.

Performances in the city's open spaces and world-famous buildings
Performing arts in the apartments of the VM Bjerget building sounds like a fun idea, and indeed that is exactly what will be happening during Kopenhagen Contemporary, when Jette Hye Jin Mortensen performs in the award-winning VM Bjerget building in Ørestad, southern Copenhagen. You can also see new performance works at Carlsberg and other places around the city in a densely-packed weekend.

If you want to learn how an exhibition comes about, and what the ideas are behind them, then Kopenhagen Contemporary offers the chance to attend a number of Art Talks about curating at museums such as Charlottenborg, Overgaden and V1 Gallery.

Art and a crime novel
You can see art at some unusual places at the visiting "Polis, polis, potatismos" exhibition based on the novel of the same name by Maj Sjöwall and Per Wahlöös. The novel is known as "Murder at the Savoy" in English. The art project was originally played out at various locations in Malmö, Sweden, but for Kopenhagen Contemporary a special Copenhagen version is being shown in collaboration with Malmö Kunsthall. It is played out at the locations in Copenhagen where the novel takes place. For example, you can follow in the footsteps of the novel and see everything from videos to collages at places such as Skindbuksen, Dragør Kajak Klub and the Savoy Hotel.

Festival kicks off the long weekend
The extended weekend kicks off in a blaze of glory when a party, a performance and the opening of the galleries at Carlsberg combine on Thursday 2 September. There you can visit the Nils Stærk Gallery, which is opening an exhibition by the internationally-renowned Olaf Breuning, or the Nicolai Wallner Gallery showing the young and progressive Alexander Tovborg for the first time.
