PARIS.- A&F Markets will soon be launching
Art Exchange, the first stock exchange for Art that will be open to everyone who wishes to invest in a new and extremely interesting asset.
By allowing the public, as well as institutions, to buy and sell shares of artworks via its marketplace, Art Exchange renders the investment in Art attractive, simple, fast and liquid.
We believe that we respond to a clear demand from financial players: the opportunity to invest easily in a highly appealing asset that has, until present, not been possible, explains Pierre Naquin, founder of A&F Markets. Through providing the art market with the transparency and the liquidity (factors that are continuously identified as almost nonexistant) needed, we believe to have found the right formula that allows a much larger public to finally consider investing in art.
The Art market is very particular and clearly disconnected from the main economic cycles. The mixture of long-term security and short-term profits makes Art an interesting asset, yet to be properly explored by many investors, mentions Caroline Matthews, Operating Manager of A&F Markets.
Art Exchange will launch with a modest selection of exceptional artworks, and the support of several galleries. Amongst the artworks available there is an epic installation from Mike Kelley, a spectacular painting by Dubossarsky & Vinogradov, as well as impressive sculptures by artists such as Richard Texier and Anselm Kiefer. The selection of artworks is paramount, affirms Henri Jobbé-Duval, founding member of the FIAC and previously co-director of ArtParis. Art Exchange has therefore made sure to offer a large and diversified choice of high quality artworks, representative of the current market interests. This consequently encourages investors as they are sure to invest in historical pieces.
Via its website, anyone can access and consult the list of artworks available, all of which are authenticated and certified. Each piece is accompanied by a detailed dossier of presentation, their financial progression, as well as factual information on the artists and the Art market in general. Furthermore, on top of carrying out orders, each client has the option to set alerts in order to stay informed on the artworks of their choice.
