LONDON, ENGLAND.- Ivan Massow, the former chairman of the Institute of Contemporary Arts,  has launched his own forum for artists, the Institute of Contemporary Culture. Massow stated, "this new space will not be backed by its own orthodoxy as perhaps some institutions have become". Massow was recently fired from the ICA for describing the conceptual art produced by young British artists as "pretentious, self-indulgent, craftless tat". Massow himself is financing the ICC project. Artists can join the ICC and use the website to sell their work without paying commissions. Massow will appoint a director and a series of mentors to spot talent movements in British art. Massow stated, "These mentors will be very big names from every level of the gallery world, including curators and young British artists."
