SAN FRANCISCO, CA.- Timed to coincide with the 14th annual Bonhams Sale of Exceptional Motorcars, Motorcycles and Related Automobilia at Quail Lodge in Carmel, Calif., during the famed Pebble Beach Car Week, Bonhams & Butterfields’ presents a sale of jewelry and watches on August 19, 2011.

Heading off the jewelry and watches sale will be dazzling automobilia-themed pieces, such as a pair of Michael Kanners' moonstone, rock crystal, onyx and diamond car-shaped cufflinks, mounted in eighteen karat white gold (est. $3,000-5,000), and an eighteen karat gold Rolls Royce belt buckle (est. $1,000-1,500).

According to Deborah Boskin, Silver Jewellery Specialist at Bonhams & Butterfields, the Quail auction is expected to be a great success, and will feature pieces suited toward myriad client tastes and interests. “We are anticipating quite a bit of interest this year’s sale, as we have something for jewelry collectors and car enthusiasts alike,” she said.

Some of the auction’s grand pieces to sound the horns for include a diamond and eighteen karat white gold flexible bangle (est. $20,000-30,000); a diamond, wide bangle bracelet, mounted in eighteen karat bicolor gold (est. $9,000-12,000); a Cartier, eighteen karat white gold, self-winding calendar bracelet wristwatch (est. $8,000-12,000); a South Sea cultured pearl and diamond calla lily ring set into a diamond pavé-set petal, mounted in eighteen karat rose gold (est. $5,500-7,500); and a golden cultured pearl and black diamond necklace (est. $5,500-7,500).

Additional highlights include a diamond daisy motif openwork bangle mounted in eighteen karat white gold (est. $5,000-7,000); a pair of colored diamond hoop earrings mounted in eighteen karat rose gold (est. $3,500-4,500); a yellow sapphire and diamond snake bangle bracelet mounted in eighteen karat gold (est. $3,000-5,000); a Rolex stainless steel and gold bracelet wristwatch (est. $1,500-2,500); and a Brumani rose quartz, smoky quartz and diamond bombé ring of 'candy rose' design mounted in eighteen karat gold (est. $800-1,200), among others.

Now in its 14th year, the Bonhams automotive sale at Quail Lodge is the longest running auction during the most famous collector car event in the world – Pebble Beach Car Week. This year Bonhams was selected to represent the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum’s singular 1979 BMW M1 Pro Car painted by Frank Stella. This is the only BMW car ever painted by an authorized BMW Art Car artist for a private client and, therefore, is totally unique from the 16 official Art Cars commissioned to date by BMW. In addition to being a rare and beautiful example of popular culture and automotive art, this M1 is also purpose-built for performance and is a true race car.

Bonhams was also selected to represent the ultra-rare 1954 AJS E95 “Porcupine” at its renowned August automotive sale in Carmel. One of just four E95s completed by the factory, the Porcupine (so nicknamed because of the spiked cooling fins on its cylinder head) was created as a works racer by British manufacturer AJS and is perhaps one of the most legendary motorcycles in history owing to its brief, sunburst racing success and extreme rarity.
