DALLAS, TX.- Dallas Contemporary announced the addition of Florence Ostende as its Adjunct Curator. Florence Ostende is an independent curator and art writer based in Paris, France.
The Adjunct Curator position at Dallas Contemporary will begin 1 August 2011 and will further enhance the institutions mission of presenting regional, national and international projects by artists. In her new position as Adjunct Curator, Florence Ostende will further expand an ongoing exchange between artists and contemporary culture.
It is important to keep an international view of the world and Florence will play an important role in our curatorial vision for the future, said Dallas Contemporary Director, Peter Doroshenko. Dallas Contemporary is interested in creating a two-way path of bringing the best international emerging artists to Dallas and creating opportunities for regional artists to exhibit globally. With Florence we can begin this practice.
Florence Ostende has recently organized the exhibitions Qui admirez-vous? (La Box, Bourges, 2011), Prendre la porte et faire le mur (FRAC PACA, Marseille, 2010), La Famille Farrell (Maison Populaire, Montreuil ; Mains d'OEuvres, Saint-Ouen, 2010), Retracing Exhibitions (Royal College of Art, Londres, 2009). In 2010, she was the guest curator at the Maison Populaire art center in Paris and curator in residence at Le Pavillon, Palais de Tokyo.
She is founding co-editor of Catalogue (www.cataloguemagazine.com) and her texts have appeared in exhibition catalogues and magazines such as 20/27, art press, 02, Volume. Ostende holds MAs in Curating Contemporary Art (Royal College of Art), Art History (Université Paris IV Paris-Sorbonne) and English Literature (Université de Provence). She is currently working on the exhibition L'Institut des Archives Sauvages (Villa Arson, Nice) and conducting research for the Louis Vuitton Foundation contemporary art collection in Paris.
