Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen appoints Patty Wageman as new Director of Finance and Operations



ROTTERDAM.- Patty Wageman will take up the post of financial/deputy director of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen on 1 November 2011. Wageman is an art historian and has gained valuable business experience as (deputy) director of the Groninger Museum. Sjarel Ex: ‘We are proud to welcome Patty onto our team’.

Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen is delighted to be associated with such a talent as Patty Wageman (Groningen, 1967). Over the last ten years she has gained considerable high-level museum experience, first as curator and then as (deputy) director at the Groninger Museum. Wageman has an extensive international network and sits on a variety of committees including that of Metropolis M and the board of trustees of Kunsthalle Emden.

Patty Wageman is currently director of international exhibitions at the Groninger Museum. She will join Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen on 1 November 2011. In her new position, she will be head of the Operational Management Sector and as Director of Finance she will develop further the museum’s management policy and strategy. Together with the museum’s director, Sjarel Ex, she will initiate new plans for external financing and expand the existing funding strategies to meet the needs of the current climate. Patty Wageman will also be involved in the further development of the new Collections Building, which is expected to open to the public in 2015.

Patty Wageman succeeds Erik van Ginkel who takes up the position of Director of Finance and Operations at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam on 1 September 2011.
