DALLAS, TX.- Adding to its formidable line-up of events, Heritage Auctions will present its first Estate Auction, Sept. 27, at its Dallas Design District Annex, 1518 Slocum Street, with a wide and eclectic range of antiques and art, including fine French Clocks, Bergman bronzes, a grouping of George Nakashima Mid- Century furniture and Personal Property from the Collection of Oscar-Winning actress Whoopi Goldberg among the offerings.

“This will be one of the most interesting auctions we have ever held,” said Ed Beardsley, Director of Fine and Decorative Arts at Heritage, “with a greater variety than many of our clients are used to seeing, given Heritage’s focus as a specialty house; we know everyone loves a good estate auction, and they love to have a look at what some of the finest estates in the nation have to offer, so here it is.”

The triangular national placement of Heritage Auctions’ primary locations in Dallas, Beverly Hills and New York, together with a widespread network of appraisers and appraisal fairs, has increasingly attracted assorted property from prominent families throughout the country, leading to the wide variety of estate quality items.

The first ‘estate auction’ features the French clock collection of Dallas socialites Ray and Clare Stern, a private collection of Bergman bronzes from the Houston area, Asian and European decorative arts from two California estates, an grouping of mid-century furniture by George Nakashima and ceramics by Birger Kaipianen from the estate of Eva Schure in Arizona and a large and impressive private collection of French Belle Epoque furniture, silver, porcelain and glass recently acquired from an East Coast mansion.

Also featured is quality property from the estate of the famed Director Henry Hathaway, noted for his work on key Westerns such as True Grit, How The West Was Won and Rawhide, which includes the oil painting On the Beach by famed costume designer Adrian (5078-68004).

The auction will also feature illustration art from the Estate of Charles Martignette, a good variety of paintings, fine art and “all the kinds of things you hope to find in a fine old estate,” Said Beardsley.

Capping the offerings is an entertaining and deliciously tempting selection of property from the personal collection of Whoopi Goldberg, consigned in New York.

“Whoopi Goldberg entertains in the old fashioned way,” said Nick Dawes, Vice President of Special Collections at Heritage, “with style, elegance, great conversation and great tableware.”
