LONDON.- John Bock, Daniel Buren, Adam Curtis, Alison Knowles and Taryn Simon, are all part of the international line-up of highly respected artists, filmmakers, curators and cultural commentators taking part in Frieze Talks 2011.

Frieze Talks is a daily programme of keynote lectures, panel debates and discussions that take place in the auditorium at Frieze Art Fair. It is presented by Frieze Foundation and programmed by the editors of frieze magazine, Jennifer Higgie, Jörg Heiser and Dan Fox.

Keynote lectures will be given by: artist Daniel Buren; award-winning journalist and documentary filmmaker, Adam Curtis; founding member of Fluxus, Alison Knowles; and Professor of Art History, Hunter College, New York, Katy Siegel.

Panel discussions led by Christy Lange, Vincenzo Latronico and Aaron Schuster will focus on current debates in contemporary art and theory. Featuring artists including Adam Broomberg, Oliver Chanarin, Taryn Simon and Melanie Gilligan, as well as writers Nana Oforiatt-Ayim and Timotheus Vermeulen. Topics include: ‘Shooting Gallery’, a discussion on the problems of photographic representation; ‘Do You Speak English?’, examining how English has become the lingua franca of the art world; and ‘On Television’, which will ask why, despite its huge cultural significance, does television not have a greater influence on contemporary art?

Also presented will be a conversation between John Bock and his former teacher Franz Erhard Walther, in which they discuss the legacy of Walther’s influential educational role and his exploration of the possibilities of objects and images that prompt viewers to do something other than just look.
