AUBURN, IN.- Auctions America by RM enjoyed a successful return to Carlisle, Pennsylvania on the weekend, posting $2.79 million* in sales with 58% of all lots sold at its debut Fall Carlisle sale, September 29 – October 1.

Held as part of Carlisle Events’ renowned Fall Carlisle Collector Car Weekend, the multi-day auction presented a diverse roster of 273 collector cars, joined by a select range of memorabilia before a packed house. Claiming top honors was a dramatically styled, show-quality 1959 DeSoto Firedome Convertible (pictured) which realized a final sales price of $99,000, closely followed by the sale of an exceptional, low-mileage 2001 BMW Z8 Roadster for $90,200. In addition, the auction included the sale of a 2006 Ford Escape, donated by Giant Food Stores, which sold for $11,500 with full proceeds benefiting the local Carlisle branch of the Salvation Army.

The weekend’s sale wrapped up a successful 2011 partnership for Auctions America by RM and Carlisle Events, who joined forces earlier this year to host co-branded events in Auburn, IN and Carlisle, PA.

“Despite the weather, Fall Carlisle was another great weekend and celebration of the collector car hobby. We’re very pleased with the results and interest levels in our 2011 Carlisle auctions – they’ve provided a great foundation for us to further build upon in 2012,” says Donnie Gould, President, Auctions America by RM.

Gould adds, “In addition, we’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with the Carlisle Events team this year. From the outset, it’s been a great partnership and we look forward continuing our relationship in 2012 as we work to further grow the Auburn and Carlisle events and provide automotive enthusiasts with an unmatched collector car event experience and level of service.”

“I’m very pleased with our initial partnership with Auctions America by RM,” noted Carlisle Events Partner Bill Miller III. “We saw great results with both our Spring and Fall auctions and working with them exceeded our expectations. Their professionalism and experience were on display every day and is evident by the fact that even after the final gavel closed the auction on Saturday, cars are still being sold. It’s a true testament to their years of experience and quality of their clientele.” Miller continued by saying that “I’m looking forward to our second year with Auctions America by RM and their return to Carlisle in April of 2012.”

Fall Carlisle Auction top five sales:

Beyond the auction, the weekend also featured filming for the highly-rated television series What’s My Car Worth, with three cars successfully rolled across the auction block and finding new buyers as part of the show. The episodes filmed during Fall Carlisle are slated to air on the newly rebranded ‘Velocity’ Channel (formerly Discovery HD Theater) in November.

Next up, Auctions America by RM will host its first dedicated motorcycle auction in Birmingham, Alabama this weekend (October 8) in conjunction with the famed Barber Vintage Festival. The afternoon sale will present some 125 classic motorcycles, catering for a diverse range of tastes and budgets. In November, Auctions America by RM will wrap up its first full auction season with the presentation of the Lee Roy Hartung Collection, in Glenview, Illinois. Regarded as one of the world’s most eclectic automotive and memorabilia collections, the Hartung sale, scheduled November 3 – 5, will present over 2,000 lots at ‘no reserve’.
