LOS ANGELES.- Bonhams, following in the success of its UK auctions in this category, announces its inaugural two-day Period Art & Design auction in Los Angeles, November 20-21. The new auction category will feature property of the late Charles Bronson and property of Candy and the late Aaron Spelling, as well as an impressive selection of Fine Art, European Furniture and property from private West Coast collectors and estates.

Bonhams to offer Property from Mr. Charles Bronson's residences in Serra Retreat, Malibu and Woodstock, Vermont. The American actor starred in such films as "The Dirty Dozen," The Great Escape," "Once Upon a Time in the West," "The Magnificent Seven," "The Mechanic," and "Rider on the Rain,” to name a few. Highlights of Property from Mr. Charles Bronson's residences will include a Regency style mahogany triple pedestal dining table (est. $1,500-2,000); a George III mahogany tray top bedside cupboard (est. $1,500-2,000); a large Regency mahogany five division canterbury (est. $1,000-1,500); a Spanish Baroque bone inlaid pine bench (est. $1,000-1,500); and a George I oak mule chest, early 18th century (est. $1,000-1,500), among others.

Bonhams will also offer the Property of Candy and Aaron Spelling during the star-studded inaugural auction. Aaron Spelling was a well-known American producer of both film and television, including hits such as “The Mod Squad,” “The Rookies,” “Starsky & Hutch,” “S.W.A.T.,” “Charlie's Angels,” “Dynasty,” “Beverly Hills 90210,” “Melrose Place” and “7th Heaven,” among many others. He was nominated for, and won, multiple Emmy® awards. His wife Candy, author of the bestseller "Stories From Candyland,” is an award-winning producer in her own right and currently serves as a public service ambassador. She recently signed on to produce her second Broadway show, “How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.”

Property of Candy and Aaron Spelling will include a pair of Louis XV style walnut armchairs (est. $3,000-5,000); a large and imposing Louis XV style low table (est. $3,000-5,000); a pair of imposing Chinese glazed earthenware jardinières (est. $2,000-3,000); a late 17th century Louis XIV walnut table (est. $2,000-3,000); and a suite of Brown Jordan patinated metal patio furniture comprising four armchairs and a circular table (est. $1,200-1,800).

Fine Art featured during the various owners section of the November auction will include such impressive pieces as an oil on canvas of “Malin, Belgium” by Leon Ricket (est. $3,000-5,000); an oil on board of a Spanish garden, attributed to Santiago Rusiñol (est. $3,000-5,000); an oil on canvas of “Paysage” by Paul Emile Pissarro (est. $3,000-5,000); a mixed media on panel of “Sette in punto, 1987” by Bruno Ceccobelli (est. $3,000-5,000); and an oil on canvas of “Corsica, 1978” by Constantin Kluge (est. $3,000-5,000).

Furniture and Decorative Arts highlights of the sale will include a Steinway & Sons ebonized baby grand piano and bench (est. $6,000-8,000); a German sterling centerpiece with silver-gilt reticulated cover (est. $3,500-4,500); a Queen Anne walnut and crossbanded dressing table, early 18th century (est. $2,200-2,800); a George III black lacquered secretary bookcase, 18th century (est. $2,000-3,000); and a Neoclassical style parcel gilt beechwood console table (est. $2,000-3,000). Additional highlights for the home will include a Sino-Persian carpet (est. $5,000-7,000) and an Allan Adler sterling silver 'Swedish Modern' flatware service for eight (est. $4,000-6,000), among others.
