LONDON.- Design Museum and PUMA.Creative present ‘Interpretations of Africa: Football, Art and Design’, an exhibition celebrating PUMA’s new football kit designs for the ten PUMA partnered African National football teams. PUMA has commissioned a selection of Africa’s leading artists to create new artwork which has become the basis for the football kits design.

‘Interpretations of Africa: Football, Art and Design’ explores the response of the ten artists to a demanding brief, to design a new football kit whilst celebrating Africa’s unique visual identity and culture. The exhibition charts the artist’s journey, inspiration, and design process, demonstrating how Africa’s culture and history can be captured in both an artwork and a corresponding sportswear design. Artist involved include: Barthélémy Toguo of Cameroon, Zineb Sedira of Algeria and Godfrey Donker of Ghana.

The exhibition will feature the artists original artwork and sketches alongside development work and the resulting final football kits. It will also explore the projects from the perspective of the artists involved, showing how their unique and individual passion to their countries influenced their designs.

African Artists involved:
• Zineb Sedira of Algeria
• Barthélémy Toguo of Cameroon
• Saïdou Dicko of Burkina Faso
• Owanto of Gabon
• Godfried Donker of Ghana
• Ernest Düku of Ivory Coast
• Hentie van der Merwe of Namibia
• Samba Fall of Senegal
• Hasan and Husain Essop of South Africa
• El Loko of Togo
