LONDON.- Design Museum and PUMA.Creative present Interpretations of Africa: Football, Art and Design, an exhibition celebrating PUMAs new football kit designs for the ten PUMA partnered African National football teams. PUMA has commissioned a selection of Africas leading artists to create new artwork which has become the basis for the football kits design.
Interpretations of Africa: Football, Art and Design explores the response of the ten artists to a demanding brief, to design a new football kit whilst celebrating Africas unique visual identity and culture. The exhibition charts the artists journey, inspiration, and design process, demonstrating how Africas culture and history can be captured in both an artwork and a corresponding sportswear design. Artist involved include: Barthélémy Toguo of Cameroon, Zineb Sedira of Algeria and Godfrey Donker of Ghana.
The exhibition will feature the artists original artwork and sketches alongside development work and the resulting final football kits. It will also explore the projects from the perspective of the artists involved, showing how their unique and individual passion to their countries influenced their designs.
