DUBAI.- Following the success of its 2011 debut, the DXB Store returns to Art Dubai 2012 (March 21-24) and expands its presence to two additional venues: SIKKA, Bastakiya (March 15-25) and Design Days Dubai, Downtown Dubai (March 18-21).

The DXB Store is a not-for-profit peripatetic shop that showcases limited edition objects, artists’ multiples, clothes and other products, all conceived and produced by artists and designers based in the UAE. Over 40 designers and artists are now producing new products for the Store, a platform that illustrates the outstanding creativity and dynamic entrepreneurship of the UAE cultural community.

In 2012, DXB Store launched an Open Call to encourage applications from new and aspiring talent as well as established names. The 2012 jury – consisting of internationally renowned designer Khalid Shafar, s*uce co-founder Zayan Ghandour and designer Manabu Ozawa -- met to select a wide variety of distinctive objects ranging from artists’ multiples and jewelry to stationery and design collectibles.

In 2012, Art Dubai joins forces with MAKE Business Hub and anarchitect[s], a collaboration between architects Jonathan Ashmore and Tarik Al Zaharna, to co-commission a “pop-up pavilion” to host the DXB Store at Art Dubai and its other iterations throughout the year. anarchitect[s] has designed a highly flexible and adaptive structure – plus the logo of the store -- that playfully embodies the acronym ‘dXb’ and is able to reconfigure to suit its changing context, content and programme.
