LONDON.- Bonhams, the international fine art auction house, this week announced the appointment of George Mullen as its new representative in Austria. He replaces Livia Liechtenstein who is getting married.

An Anglo-Austrian with truly international experience, George, 37, has had a career that mixes auctioneering and finance. A multilingualist he speaks five languages and has lived and traveled all five continents.

Since 2010 he has been running his own gallery in Paris, La Galerie Bellechasse where he has held solo exhibitions with artists: Alexandre Mussard, Christian Bazant-Hegemark, Antoine Wagner, Sophie Hanau-Schaumburg, Annunziata Schmidt-Chiari, Marie-Paule Quercy-Mommeja amongst others.

His professional experience includes: curating the Guerrand-Hermès collection in Paris; Director of Design at Castello di Reschio in Italy; Auctioneer for the Dorotheum in Vienna; Representative for an international auction house in Vienna.

Prior to his art world experience he had a career in finance, working in various senior capacities at UBS in Zurich, Geneva, Frankfurt and London; finally as Associate Director at Global Asset Management GAM (Switzerland) AG.

Matthew Girling, Bonhams CEO for the UK, Europe and the Middle East, says: “George Mullen will build on our success in Austria. His European network and arts expertise makes him a key appointment in a country that is ever more important as a source of works of art for the international art market. We are delighted to welcome him.”
