BEIJING.- Supported by the Ministry of Culture of the People's Republic of China, the Ninth Edition of the China International Gallery Exposition (CIGE2012) is taking place at The Exhibition Hall of the China World Trade Centre in Beijing from April 12 to15, 2012.

With the auspices of the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2010 Shanghai Expo, China now arrives at an unprecedented age of prosperity. Its remarkable economic developments in the 21st century and its advances as a political and economic power have secured the country as a leading international force in the world. While China plays an important role to fortify the network between Asian regions,CIGE 2012 serves as a critical exchange platform to internationalize the local arts environment. As the world continues to keep on eye on the booming developments of Chinese Contemporary art and its impact on the global art world, the future of contemporary Art market in China remains promising to art professional world wide.

Looking back at the global economic decline in 2010 and in 2011, the Chinese Arts market has remained strong and the economic power of Chinese art continues to grow substantially. China's growing consumption levels for luxury goods gives the local art market further confidence.

CIGE 2012 Gallery Exhibition
10,000 square meter space on the first floor of the China World Trade Center Exhibition Hall host around 60 selected outstanding galleries from all over the world, presenting a panorama of modern and contemporary art. CIGE 2012 welcomes and encourages any form of art expression, including photography, video, painting, sculptures, mixed media, installations, prints, digital and net art, textile, design…
Understanding the relevance of technology and globalization on the economic infrastructure of the art world, CIGE 2012 Art Project invites galleries, artists, not-for-profit art organizations, museums, institutions, private collections, and visitors to reflecton our contemporary visual culture.

1 CIGE 2012 SOLO SHOWS MAPPING ASIA

The 1st floor of the Exhibition Hall of the China World Trade Center hosts solo shows of young and emerging artists in Asia. The projects are realized in collaboration with art galleries.

2 CIGE 2012 SUBLIMINALS
At the entrance of the China World Trade Center, SUBLIMINALS presents not-for-sale projects realized by not-for-profit art organizations and cultural centers. Non-for-profit organizations usually do not directly participate in art fairs, but definitely have a determin an trelevance in the economy of the whole contemporary art system.
