NEW YORK, NY.- Frieze announced the works to be installed in the Sculpture Park at the first edition of Frieze New York. The Sculpture Park offers a rare opportunity to see a significant group of international work that is addressed on a public scale. The Sculpture Park will be located along the waterfront of Randall’s Island overlooking the East River, it is just two minutes walk from the fair. The Sculpture Park at Frieze New York is selected by curator Tom Eccles.

The inaugural Sculpture Park at Frieze New York presents work by some of the most acclaimed international sculptors. These include new works by James Angus, Rathin Barman, Christoph Büchel, Ernesto Neto, Tomás Saraceno, Katja Strunz and Cerith Wyn Evans as well as pieces by Louise Bourgeois, Joshua Callaghan, Subodh Gupta, Ryan Gander, Jeppe Hein, Gabriel Kuri, Susan Philipsz and Jaume Plensa.

Cerith Wyn Evans, will show And If I Don’t... (2012) a firework piece that will be debuted on the preview evening of the fair.

Tom Eccles is executive director of the Center for Curatorial Studies. Since joining CCS Bard in 2005, he has overseen the construction of the Hessel Museum of Art, which opened in November 2006.

Eccles commented: ‘Drawn from participants in the Frieze Art Fair itself, the sculpture park offers visitors a unique way to experience contemporary art within the unexpected context of the Randall’s Island waterfront. Both bucolic and urban, the site offers the perfect backdrop for a series of diverse works by some of today’s leading international artists.’

Frieze New York will take place 4 – 7 May 2012 and will present 180 of the world’s leading galleries. Frieze New York is sponsored by Deutsche Bank.
