LOS ANGELES, CA.- The Autry National Center announced the appointment of Stacy Lieberman to the newly created position of Vice President of Communications and Visitor Experience. Reporting to the Autry’s President and CEO, Lieberman will lead the Autry’s communications, marketing, membership, and visitor services functions, as well as oversee public programs, with the goal of prioritizing audience development and visitor engagement. Lieberman will assume her new position on September 5, 2012.

“We are delighted to welcome Stacy Lieberman as the new Vice President of Communications and Visitor Experience,” said W. Richard West, Jr., Autry President and CEO. “We are committed to a new ‘visitors first’ strategic plan, and Ms. Lieberman’s broad experience in marketing, branding, and the development of diverse audiences for cultural institutions will help us redefine and expose the wonders and complexities of the American West to the largest public possible. Her impressive track record and passion for helping institutions shape their public narratives will be a tremendous asset.”

The Autry, located in Los Angeles’ Griffith Park, presents a range of changing exhibitions and more than 150 programs per year, including lectures, theatre, film, concerts, family programs, and festivals. Visitor amenities include free parking, extended Autry Store hours, a reasonably priced cafe with indoor and scenic outdoor seating, a 200-seat theatre, and two levels of galleries dedicated to the myths and realities of the American West.

“I am thrilled and honored to be joining the Autry at this exciting time of transition,” said Ms. Lieberman. “The Autry is uniquely positioned to tell compelling stories about the American West in imaginative ways, and I look forward to ensuring the Autry becomes a must-see and must-experience destination where visitors are inspired to return again and again.”

Lieberman is currently Associate Vice President for Marketing and Communications at California State University, Northridge. She was Director of External Affairs at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles for nearly ten years, with prior experience at Getty Publications, Wayne State University Press in Detroit, and St. Martin’s Press in New York. She has served on the board of the Western Museums Association and is the recipient of many awards, including Association of American Museums honors for outstanding publications, a PRism Award of Excellence from the Los Angeles chapter of the Public Relations Society of America, and a Women Making a Difference award from the Los Angeles Business Journal.
