MIAMI, FL.- PULSE Contemporary Art Fair presents PULSE Miami 2012, a leading art fair dedicated to international contemporary art, from December 6-9, 2012, at The Ice Palace Studios in Miami. Currently in its eighth edition, PULSE Miami opens on Tuesday, December 4, 2012, with a special preview evening and silent auction, hosted by artnet Auctions, benefiting the Lotus House Womenʼs Shelter in Miami. This yearʼs fair will be home to eighty-six national and international galleries, presenting exhibitions that span across all media, from works on paper, paintings, and sculptures, to performances, installations, and video art.
“As one of the longstanding art fairs in Miami and New York to host local and international exhibitors, PULSE is oftentimes a barometer of the global art market. This year, PULSE Miami will feature a greater number of international galleries than that of other satellite fairs. Weʼve noticed a particularly growing presence of European galleries that are relying on a strong US market to sustain sales,” comments Cornell DeWitt, Director. “Headquartered in New York City, we also hope to provide a resurgence for our vital New York galleries suffering from the aftermath of recent Hurricane Sandy.”
New international exhibitors joining PULSE Miami this season include The Fine Art Society Contemporary (London), presenting works by Chris Levine, celebrated for his iconic TIME cover portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth II, and Rob and Nick Carter; Nuova Galleria Morone (Milan), showing legendary Italian conceptual artist Maria Lai; Galerie Alex Daniels -Reflex Amsterdam (Amsterdam) featuring a diverse roster of international talents; VIGO GALLERY (London) displaying collaborative geometric paintings by Biggs and Collings; espaivisor – Visor Gallery (Valencia) featuring Columbian artists Miguel Angel Rojas and Alberto Baraya Gay, as well as British artist Hamish Fulton; Galerie Wittenbrink (Munich) offering pieces by Florian Thomas; and ALARCON CRIADO (Sevilla) featuring Nicolas Grospierre; amongst others.

The latest edition of PULSE PLAY>, the fairʼs ongoing video lounge series, will be home to WATCH SOME MOVIES by Casey Neistat, an interactive film archive featuring the artistʼs works and an “Information Booth” manned by Casey Neistat himself, where he will field inquiries on proclaimed areas of proficiency including boxing, Nintendo 64, carpentry, long-distance running, the Second World War, filmmaking, hand guns, Instagram, cell phones, mountain climbing, B&E, video cameras, snowboarding, parenting, frequent flyer reward programs, hand stands, Malcolm X, painting, and much more.
The international roster of past PULSE PLAY> curators includes Stanya Kahn, Dossier Journal, Lucie Fontaine, João Ribas, Marina Fokidis, Magda Gonzalez-Mora, Bill Arning and Christopher Eamon.
PULSE MIAMI 2012 continues its signature series, PULSE PROJECTS, an engaging selection of installations throughout the fair, proposed by galleries and not-for-profit institutions. PULSE PROJECTS enables the exploration of artistic practice outside of the confines of a booth, and lends to larger solutions within the context of the fair. This yearʼs projects feature Zackary Druckerʼs At least you know you exist, 2011, a short film shown earlier this year at MoMA PS1 (New York), and brought to PULSE by LUIS DE JESUS LOS ANGELES (Los Angeles); the heralded film, ANISA DʼINFINITO | MARIA LAI, by Clarita Di Giovanni and Nuova Galleria Morone; a live multimedia performance by the TM Sisters; and Carlos Rigauʼs mixed materials sculpture Hello Deconstructing Fantasy, 2012, of LMAKprojects (New York), which has previously been shown at the de la Cruz Collection (Miami).
