NEW YORK, NY.- Acquavella Galleries announced that Ken Yeh – former Chairman of Christie’s Asia – has been appointed Director starting mid-May 2013. Mr. Yeh will be based in New York and Hong Kong and will be responsible for spearheading the gallery’s business and client development in Asia.

Mr. Yeh comes to Acquavella Galleries with a strong background in Impressionist & Modern Art and over 15 years of experience directing the marketing and sales of Impressionist & Post Impressionist, and Contemporary Art to Asian collectors worldwide. “We have long and deep ties in Japan and have been making steady progress with the more recent Chinese market,” explained William Acquavella. “Ken will be a key player in increasing our visibility in the region.” Mr. Yeh will join directors Michael Findlay, Esperanza Sobrino and Tsutomu Takashima. Their combined experience represents a wide range of expertise in acquisition, appraisal and education. The gallery will now conduct business in Mandarin and Taiwanese, in addition to French, Italian, Japanese, Hebrew, Spanish and English.

“I am looking forward to joining the team at Acquavella and bringing the gallery’s distinguished history, expertise and evolving program to Chinese collectors globally,” stated Yeh. “Acquavella has a longstanding reputation for organizing museum-quality exhibitions. I am excited about enhancing its presence in this region to meet the strong demand of Asian collectors, particularly in Hong Kong – now the third largest art market in the world.”

Mr. Yeh joined Christie’s New York in 1997 as an art advisor for Asian clients. As Chairman of Christie’s Asia, he provided senior cross-category support in business-getting and buyer development, making maximum use of art expertise and client relationships, and serving as a strong ambassador of exceptional client service. Prior to joining Christie’s, he established the Eastlake Gallery in 1988, a Manhattan-based gallery that specialized in French Impressionist and post-Impressionist art. As its director, he worked internationally with collectors, artists and museums advising on sales and acquisitions. He has also curated art exhibitions worldwide. Mr. Yeh holds an MBA in Finance from Columbia University's Graduate School of Business and a B.A. in French Literature from Fu Jen Catholic University in Taipei, Taiwan. He was born in Taiwan and is fluent in French, English, Mandarin and Taiwanese.
