PERTH.- Van Gogh, Dalí and Beyond: The World Reimagined brings to Perth a feast of world-class works from The Museum of Modern Art, New York.

Arriving direct from New York, this exhibition presents over 130 works by more than 90 artists who together reinvented the traditional genres of landscape, still life and portraiture and reimagined how we view the world through art.

Director of Art Gallery of Western Australia, Dr Stefano Carboni said AGWA is the only venue in the Southern Hemisphere to host this extraordinary exhibition, and the content was curated between AGWA and MoMA, exclusively for Perth.

“Perth is the only city to host this superb display of works by some of the most celebrated artists working from the late nineteenth century to today. More than half the artists appearing in The World Reimagined have never before had their work on display in Perth, making it a must-see exhibition,” said Stefano.

Director of MoMA, Glenn D. Lowry agrees, “It’s rare for many of these works to travel across the globe, so it does represent a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Western Australians and visitors to WA, to view these works in Perth.”

The paintings, sculpture, drawings, photographs, prints and media works in Van Gogh, Dalí and Beyond are drawn from MoMA’s renowned Collection and include works by influential artists such as Cézanne, Dalí, Kahlo, Klimt, Modigliani, Picasso, Richter, Toulouse-Lautrec and van Gogh.

The Gallery is set to become a hub of activity for Van Gogh, Dali and Beyond with AGWA Nights back on Friday nights, a new program of family-friendly events in place, special talks and tours, and an interactive drawing space in the exhibition itself.

Premier Colin Barnett officially opened Van Gogh, Dalí and Beyond: The World Reimagined at an exclusive VIP launch event. The exhibition is on display at the Art Gallery of Western Australia from Saturday 22 June to Monday 2 December 2013.
