AMSTERDAM.- Dutch fashion and advertising photographer Hans Withoos presents his latest series of photographs 'The New Romantics'. Mysterious photos with archetypes that figure in a colourful dream world. Each with its own atmosphere and expressiveness. The exhibition is from 29 June until 10 August in Eduard Planting Gallery in Amsterdam.

The new romanticism of Hans Withoos has a strong reference to classical art themes such as 'The Three Graces', 'Pietà' and 'manipulated landscapes'. His imaginative pictures have a positive effect and bring us to Iceland, Arnhem, Den Bosch and Rotterdam. In the images the environment is almost more important than the people. This environment tells the story.

For 'The New Romantics' the photographer chose to portray people whose physique or character symbolize the archetypes that he wants to show. Jolanda Cats and Al Benmira signed for the unprecedented styling and make-up. The specially designed clothing includes a dress of human hair. For the finishing touch advanced image manipulation has been used.

Hans Withoos (1962) has in recent years photographed for dance company Introdans and fashion designers Jeroen van Tuyl and Fernando Silva. In his commissions he’s working together with Jolanda Cats. His artistic work is featured in galleries and exhibitions in The Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, United States and Canada. And is included in the collections of international art collectors and museums.
