JERUSALEM.- The Jerusalem Season of Culture announces A Point of View, classic ViewMaster wheels by 2013 Artist of the Season Tal Erez. From July 8 to 28, 2013 these 18 Jerusalem-specific wheels of 7 photographs each, which provide viewers with intimate and multifaceted insights into Jerusalem’s diverse narratives, will be on view and sold at the new First Station complex at the Old Train Station Plaza in Jerusalem.

This project is an initiative of the third annual Jerusalem Season of Culture, which offers dozens of artistic experiences spanning the worlds of music, visual arts, culinary treats, cultural encounters, live art, social interaction, performing arts, new media and more from July 1 to August 23, 2013.

“The search for the single story that defines Jerusalem is an impossible task. For this commission, I’ve contemplated multiple Jerusalem stories and tried to generate a concurrent sense of context and differentiation through my adaptation of the ViewMaster binoculars,” says designer and artist Tal Erez. “Like Twitter, the fact that these stories must be told through a pre-determined and limited number of seven pictures, ensures that each is as refined and exact as possible.”

Each of the 18 wheels focuses on a different aspect of Jerusalem including photographs depicting daily life in Jerusalem, religion and history, politics and protest, food and nightlife and more. For a selection of these limited edition pieces, Erez invited a group of renowned and decorated Israeli photographers including Alex Levac, Ziv Koren, Yoram Amir, Menahem Kahana and Hila Harel, to create a wheel from their personal photography collections. Additional wheels were compiled from specially commissioned photo shoots.

A limited edition of 1,000 Tal Erez ViewMasters will be on view and available for purchase for between $10 - $20 at First Station, 4 David Remez Road, Jerusalem
