NEW YORK, NY.- Tracy Williams, Ltd.presents Chick Lit: Revised Summer Reading, a group exhibition organized by Molly Rand and Pilar Vahey. Featuring work by twenty-six female artists, this exhibition considers the interplay of the literal and the psychological. Each artist explores how literature has influenced them- whether referencing children's books, feminist poetry, historical texts, science fiction, Greek mythology, mystery, and romance- in ways that are completely distinct. Working directly from the narrative or the physical object itself, the exhibition includes embroidery, prints, sculpture, drawing, painting, photography and collage.

The artworks in this exhibition are evocative of the artists' interior world, reflecting on how the corporeal act of reading becomes transcendent, as our psyche alters the literal by uncovering a visual paradigm that is entirely one's own. As a group, all of the works find commonality in the superlative presence of narrative, while questioning its etiology and purpose through irony, humor, and in some cases gravity.

As we choose our reading for the hot days and nights of summer, this exhibition explores and reminds us of how the experience of reading, and the reflective rapture that ensues, extends far past the pages, and the reader's room.
