CHICAGO, IL.- Northern Trust, Presenting Sponsor of Expo Chicago, The International Exposition of Contemporary and Modern Art, will donate a work of art selected from one gallery participating in Expo Chicago to the Department of Prints and Drawings at the Art Institute of Chicago. Chosen by Mark Pascale, Curator in the Department of Prints and Drawings at the Art Institute of Chicago, the gift will be presented to the museum on Saturday, September 21 during the exposition. This gift joins the previously announced prizes to be awarded at Expo Chicago including the Andree Stone Emerging Artist Prize to be selected by and donated to the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago and the Artadia/Expo Chicago Award supporting a Chicago based artist represented in the fair.

"Northern Trust is very excited to donate a piece of selected artwork to The Art Institute of Chicago,” said Executive Vice President of Wealth Management at Northern Trust Steve "Mac" MacLellan. “This gift is a wonderful opportunity to further enhance our partnership with Expo Chicago and deepen our longstanding relationships with the leading art institutions in the city."

As Presenting Sponsor of Expo Chicago, Northern Trust’s ongoing commitment to make the city a destination for outstanding art is reflected in their appreciation of arts and culture. Northern Trust recognizes that the arts play a vital role within the community by enriching cultural experiences. The Northern Trust purchase for the Department of Prints and Drawings at the Art Institute of Chicago will further the financial service firm’s commitment to the arts by adding to the permanent collection of one of the city’s most prestigious museums.

“It will be a pleasure and a challenge to select a work of art on behalf of Northern Trust and the Art Institute of Chicago, that reflects enduringly on the legacy of visual art for Chicago,” said Curator in the Department of Prints and Drawings at the Art Institute of Chicago, Mark Pascale. “The Art Institute is grateful for Northern Trust’s dedication to the arts and is privileged to have such a fine institution contributing a piece of art and in turn history to the museum’s collection.”

“We are extremely grateful that the Northern Trust has chosen to add to the acquisitions and prizes being made at Expo Chicago this year,” said President/Director of Expo Chicago, Tony Karman. “With the Andree Stone Emerging Artist Prize to be selected and donated to the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago and the Artadia/Expo Chicago Award supporting a Chicago based artist represented in the fair, we are fulfilling a significant mission to facilitate greater support for our local artists and institutions.”
