LENOX, MASS.- This summer, The Mount—the spectacular home of Edith Wharton in Lenox, Mass.—serves as the site for the 16th annual SculptureNow’s exhibition of outdoor sculptures, titled, Confluence. This year’s show features internationally acclaimed artists, including George Rickey, Jonathan Prince, Tim Prentice, and Richard Erdman as well as 19 additional selected artists.

The exhibit opened on June 4 and will continue through October 31, 2013. Admission to the exhibit is free with a Grounds Pass to The Mount.

“We could not ask for a more beautiful “Green Gallery” than The Mount”, said Ann Jon, Executive director of SculptureNow. “The sculptures and the setting complement each other perfectly, and entice visitors to enjoy both.”

The 40-acre historic Mount property, widely recognized for its exquisite architectural and landscape design, serves as the setting for 24 pieces selected by a SculptureNow jury. This is the 16th annual sculpture exhibition mounted by SculptureNow. Both organizations recognize the unique opportunity presented by this collaboration to showcase contemporary art in a historical setting.

“We are thrilled to host Confluence,” said Susan Wissler, The Mount’s executive director. “Showcasing the work of contemporary artists in such a special historic setting is a magical mix. The exhibit undoubtedly draws new audiences to The Mount, and we know it will captivate our regular visitors in fresh and exciting ways.”

Exhibiting artists include Peter Barrett, Paulette Carr, Murray Dewart, Steven Dono, Richard Erdman, Gene & Susan Flores, Susan Flores, Drew Goerlitz, Matt Harding, Ann Jon, Thomas Matsuda, Gary Orlinsky, Tim Prentice, Jonathan Prince, George Rickey, Henry Royer, Antoinette Schultze, Leon Smith, Gunnar Theel, Michael Thomas, Robin Tost, Bob Turan, and Allen Williams. The exhibit also features a collaborative sculpture by art students from Pittsfield High School.

Richard Erdman, whose work is featured in the exhibit, said: “As a sculptor working in bronze and stone, I believe natural outdoor settings are the ideal placement for any large work. The magnificent rolling landscape and formal gardens of The Mount offer a splendid backdrop that resonates the essence of the sculpture’s open, flowing form, the purity of bronze and its lively patina. I am pleased to exhibit my sculpture at this great estate where the confluence of art, nature and historical context are so well endowed.”
