LONDON.- The Dairy Art Centre’s second major exhibition, Island, based on the novel by Aldous Huxley and curated by Sarina Basta, opened on 11 October 2013. The exhibition runs from 11 October – 5 December 2013.

The show captures various moments from Aldous Huxley’s finalnovel Island (1962), written as a counterpart to his most famous work, Brave New World (1932). Island was a utopian proposal for a new social order and modes of interaction. Within this society eccentric solutions are found to old problems, including the regulatory uses of the psychedelic drug "moksha", tantra, rock climbing and collective and individual healing sessions.

Island celebrates the psychedelic Sixties and the dissolution of conventional Western moves towards the rise of new forms of awareness. It is also a cautionary tale of the threat of a mindless exploitation of resources, allied to the capitalisation of spirituality.

Artists include: John Armleder, Sylvie Auvray, Tom Benson, Valentin Carron, Jake and Dinos Chapman, George Condo, Ann Craven, Thomas Demand, Zeng Fanzhi, Urs Fischer, Théodore Fivel, Sylvie Fleury, Cyprien Gaillard, Gunjan Gupta, Anthea Hamilton, Thilo Heinzmann, Reena Saini Kallat, Terence Koh, Sergej Jensen, Rashid Johnson, Adriana Lara, Franck Leibovici & Diemo Schwarz, Fang Lijun, Ursula Mayer, Takashi Murakami, Order of the Third Bird, Jagannath Panda, Mai-Thu Perret, Sigmar Polke, Laure Prouvost, R.H.
