COLOGNE.- Next year, when
ART.FAIR moves to the fifth-‐largest convention center in the world, the Cologne fall-‐season art fair will be writing the next chapter of its success story. There, in the legendary halls 1 and 2, it is awaited by the celebrated event location where its established success formula will be pursued in the future.
The ART.FAIR, which will feature over 90 international galleries, would thus like to invite you to visit it one last time in the three halls of Cologne’s Staatenhaus, from October 30 to November 3. There the fair spreads across a total exhibition space of over 16,000 m².
The opening of the ART.FAIR is being celebrated with a grand vernissage on October 30. During the four days that follow, the 11th edition of the fair will be showing the work of internationally known elite artists, but will also be sending its visitors on a voyage of discovery among promising positions from young, emerging artists. The ART.FAIR thus sets forth its successful philosophy of the last ten years, simultaneously fascinating both experienced collectors and young art lovers with its unconventional approach.
Andy Warhol and Tom Wesselmann meet Ilse Haider and Joachim Böttcher
Established and promising names in contemporary art will be appearing hand in hand. The Galerie Rainer Klimczak (Viersen, Germany) is presenting Pop Art icons such as Andy Warhol and Tom Wesselmann. The Galerie Berlin (Berlin) is showing paintings by Joachim Böttcher. The stand of the DavisKlemmGallery (Wiesbaden | Munich) will be awaiting visitors with large-‐format photographs by Ilse Haider as well as works by Mel Ramos and Julian Opie.
Other top positions can be found at the Galerie Michael Schultz (Berlin | Seoul | Beijing), which will be showing works by the South Korean star artist SEO, among others.
The Kunsthandlung Osper (Cologne) is presenting paintings by Gerhard Richter and sculptures by Hannes Helmke.
The Galerie Hafenrichter (Nuremberg) is presenting works by Roy Lichtenstein and other artists. The presentation of the Galerie im Fritz-‐Winter-‐Atelier (Diessen am Ammersee, Germany) will be no less impressive: It will be bringing the positions of Fritz Winter, his contemporaries, and the students of his master class to Cologne.
There will also be a number of highly anticipated debuts. These include Jankossen Contemporary (Basel), which will be showing Peter Bynum. The New York artist creates painterly works on glass, which he provides with a sculptural character by means of their illumination.
anOTHER art gallery ltd. (Farindola, Italy) will also be a part of the ART.FAIR for the first time. It is celebrating its premiere with works including those of Paul Critchley, whose images mesmerize their viewers with their muted colors and skewed perspectives.
Beyond the classic fields of fine art, BLOOOM – the converging art show will be impressively demonstrating that young art makes use not only of traditional forms of expression, but is also able to produce extraordinary results in the areas of design, urban art, video, and fashion. The world’s first fair for converging art has formed an integral part of the ART.FAIR for four years and will be presenting around 30 international galleries.
A Forum for High-‐Profile Collectors and Newcomers Alike
Since its foundation in 2003, the ART.FAIR has succeeded in providing experienced German and international collectors with an attractive marketplace. However, the fair also considers it particularly important to open up the art market to new potential buyers by means of its distinctive concept.
