GENEVA.- When everyone in Paris had their eyes riveted on the Avant-garde movement focused on abstraction, René Rimbert and a few rebellious comrades were defiant. On the fringe of the dominant creeds, they paved the way of the intuitive figurative. Reality shall be objectivity. Like an alchemist, Rimbert makes the ordinary extraordinary.

Perfecting his compositions Rimbert, meticulous, produced little – 276 paintings – between 1920 and 1983.

The sequence proposed by the Artvera's gallery, exhibiting unique and original paintings, presenting an exceptional collection: escorting still lifes, swift cityscapes and interior scenes. The search for the ideal and the Beautiful will be a comforting constant in his work.

His Flemish references are profusely implemented. The summoning of The Girl with a Pearl Earring is a tribute to the image of Vermeer. Landscapes unequivocally evoke his inclination for the Delft School as a subject, as a style.
