PARIS.- Phillips and Degroof Bank announced an exhibition of a group of works from the private collection of Florence and Damien Bachelot on view at the new Phillips office and gallery space at 46, Rue de Bac.

The exhibition will preview a curated selection of works from a larger exhibition that will take place in February 15 – May 18, 2014 at the Museum Nicéphore Niépce in Chalon-sur-Saône, During Paris Photo the works will be exhibited in Phillips brand new gallery space in Saint-Germain-des-Prés and will be free to the public.

Curated by François Cheval, director of the Museum Nicéphore Niépce, the exhibition will include photographs by Héléna Almeida, Bachelot-Caron, Edouard Boubat, Edward Burtynsky, Stéphane Couturier, Bruce Davidson, Gilles Ehrmann, Mitch Epstein, Mario Giacomelli, Nan Goldin, Paul Graham, Chris Killip, Josef Koudelka, Saul Leiter and Andrew Moore.

Since the early 2000s, Damien Bachelot has built up two collections: one for Aforge-Degroof Finance, of which he is the President and Founder, and a private one with his wife Florence Bachelot. Recently, the two collections had been gathered in a family business: Art Pradier.

This carefully curated group of photographs feeds both from the heyday of American photography and contemporary trends. From an intimate black and white image to a very modern and poetic portrayal of ruins, the collection seems varied at first sight, revealing a constant theme of social and urban scenarios.

“This is a rare opportunity to pay tribute to a passionate and meticulously assembled French collection in our new Parisian space. As an auction house we are very pleased to be able to collaborate with private collectors and a Museum on an exhibition.” Jonas Tebib, Photographs Specialist, Paris.

“We began collecting Photography because we believe it is the medium that best reflects our generation. The beauty of photography is that it tells the big and small stories from the 20th century.” Damien Bachelot, Co-Founder & Chairman, Degroof - Aforge Finance, Collector.

“Photography gives us the opportunity to access unique museum-quality works. We feel entirely privileged to be surrounded by such masterpieces.” Florence Bachelot, Co-Manager of Art Pradier.
