ISTANBUL.- The leading auction house of Turkey, Antik A.S. announces the 279th auction of Modern and Contemporary Art which will take place on Sunday 23 November 2013 in Istanbul. The sale will bring together an important selection of works from the Modern Turkish Art including impressive works of Erol Akyavas, Hale Asaf, Nejad Melih Devrim, Mübin Orhon, Fahrel Nisa Zeid, Burhan Doğançay, Ferruh Başağa, , Abdurrahman Öztoprak, Kemal Önsoy, Mustafa Ata, Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu, Orhan Peker..

The auction will take place at the Antik A.Ş. auction room and will present 150 exceptional modern&contemporary art. One of the highlights of the sale is Hale Asaf’s “Self-Portrait”, an important canvas dated 1928. An exceptional painting, by one of the most important Turkish women artists, has an estimation of 60,000 – 80,000 USD and is expected to generate tremendous excitement for the collectors and museums. Many art critics and museum curators describe the work as one of the iconic paintings of the Modern Turkish Art.

Antik A.Ş. will also offer for sale paintings by masters of Turkish Art.. One of the leading abstact artists Mubin Orhon’s monumental abstract work dated 1963 has an estimation of 300,000 – 400,000 USD; others abstracts by Nejad Melih Devirm dated 1954 and 1960, a geometric composition by Ferruh Başağa. Another modern Turkish masterpiece which will be offered at auction is a Burhan Doğançay canvas from the “walls” series with and estimation of 200,000 – 250,000 USD.. Besides these lots, works by Modern Turkish art's most important representatives Mehmet Güleryüz, Abdurrahman Öztoprak, Güngör Taner, Avni Arbaş, Orhan Peker, Neşe Erdok, Komet, Ergin Inan, Kemal Onsoy, Mustafa Ata, Canan Tolon, Azade Koker, Selma Gurbuz and Ahmet Elhan works will also be offered in the sale.

There will be an important selection of Modern Turkish Sculptures, including the “Walking Dervish” by Ilhan Koman, and works by Kuzgun Acar, Seyhun Topuz, Meriç Hızal and Koray Ariş..

Olgac Artam, auctioneer of the sale, said “the sale is giving art buyers an opportunity to own extraordinary masterpieces of the Turkish Art dating from 1928 to 2000s” Artam predicts that many of these works will make a great impact on the modern art market, and invites all those who appreciate quality art to view the display before the sale. The auction which will be held at Antik A.S. auction house on November 23, 2013. A special catalogue has been prepared for the collection that will be on displayed at the Antik A.S., until 23rd of November. Many examples of the quality artworks and modern masterpieces from 1920s to present will be offered in the sale.
