“We’ve set a high bar for the 100 exhibitors in this juried show in its fifth year, in 20,000 square feet at Tunnel,” said Richard Rothbard, art fair co-founder and co-producer, with his wife Joanna Rothbard.

NEW YORK, NY.- The Contemporary Art Fair NYC, May 8-May 11, 2014, moves to the heart of Chelsea joining at least 10 other events around the city that also amplify and coincide with the international contemporary art fair--Frieze New York. “We’ve set a high bar for the 100 exhibitors in this juried show in its fifth year, in 20,000 square feet at Tunnel,” said Richard Rothbard, art fair co-founder and co-producer, with his wife Joanna Rothbard.

"We curate this fair to exhibit master-quality work, yet we distinguish it in other essential ways,” he continued. “Following the tradition of major museums, seasoned masters will exhibit both functional and fine art, sculpture and photography. We acknowledge the timeless oeuvre of glassmakers and cabinet makers, innovative jewelers, ceramists, weavers, fashion designers, wood and metalworkers whose textiles, ironwork, furniture, wearable art, fashion and decorative accessories are tomorrow’s heirlooms. In our 30+ years producing events that spotlight and support artists, this interplay of artistic skills and perspective has clearly enhanced and elevated the artisanship of each.

“In addition, we commit to independent artists without art gallery representation. Visitors will meet the artists—not their agents—and discover the inspirations for their one-of-a-kind work. While the mega shows are prohibitively expensive for most artists, our mission is to provide an elegant showcase, at reasonable cost, to give artists a viewing and collectors, museum curators and gallery directors the opportunity to meet and identify the artists well on their journey to international recognition,” Rothbard concluded.
