NEW YORK, NY.- Doyle New York announced that Peter Lang has joined the firm as a Senior Vice President and the Director of Important English and Continental Furniture and Decorations. He will be the Specialist in charge of auctions in that sale category and a Senior Appraiser for estates and collections.

“We welcome Peter Lang to our team at Doyle New York,” said Kathleen M. Doyle, Chairman/CEO of Doyle New York. “He brings with him a wealth of experience and accomplishments. We are delighted to offer our clients Peter Lang’s world class expertise in furniture and decorative arts.”

Peter Lang has been in the Decorative Arts field for almost thirty years. Prior to joining Doyle New York, he was Director of the Decorative Arts Department at Gurr Johns, an international art appraisal and art advisory firm. From 1988 to 2010, he worked at Sotheby’s, and he was the firm’s Director of the English Furniture Department from 1999 until 2010.

Raised in Philadelphia, Peter Lang moved to New York City in 1980 and worked for Janney Montgomery Scott on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange from 1980 until 1984, and as a floor broker until 1986. In 1998, he attended the Royal Collection Studies program, a course also organized by the Attingham Trust. Based near Windsor, the program focuses on the patronage and collecting of the English Royal Family from the Renaissance onward.

Peter Lang continues to be a member of the American Friends of the Attingham Summer School, the Royal Oak Foundation, the Furniture History Society, and The Preservation Society of Newport.
