Antik A.S. to offer an exceptional auction of Modern & Contemporary Art in Istanbul

ISTANBUL.- The leading auction house of Turkey, Antik A.S. announces the 281st auction of Modern and Contemporary Art which will take place on Saturday 12 April 2014 in Istanbul. The sale will bring together an important selection of works from the Modern Turkish Art including impressive works of Erol Akyavas, Mübin Orhon, Fahrel Nisa Zeid, Burhan Doğançay, Nejad Melih Devrim, Kemal Önsoy, Mustafa Ata, Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu, Orhan Peker, Avni Arbaş..

The auction will take place at the Antik A.Ş. auction room and will present 157 exceptional modern&contemporary art. One of the highlights of the sale is Erol Akyavaş’s monumental canvas from siege series. The exceptional painting has an estimation of 200,000 – 300,000 USD and is expected to generate tremendous excitement for the collectors and museums. The other highlight of the sale is a museum quality “Portrait” by the most expensive Turkish woman artist, Fahrel Nisa Zeid. 130x110cm oil on canvas work has an estimation of 200,000 – 300,000 USD.

Antik A.Ş. will also offer paintings by masters of Turkish Art.. One of the leading abstact artists Mubin Orhon’s monumental abstract work dated 1963 has an estimation of 250,000 – 300,000 USD; Another modern Turkish masterpiece which will be offered at auction is a Burhan Doğançay’a “Gateway Eternity” from the “Doors” series with and estimation of 200,000 – 250,000 USD.. Besides these lots, works by Modern Turkish art's most important representatives Mehmet Güleryüz, Abdurrahman Öztoprak, , Avni Arbaş, Orhan Peker, Neşe Erdok, Komet, Ergin Inan, Kemal Onsoy, Mustafa Ata, Canan Tolon, Azade Köker, Selma Gurbuz, Murat Germen, Ansen, Gülay Semercioğlu and Ahmet Elhan works will also be offered in the sale. There will be an important selection of Modern Turkish Sculptures, including by Ilhan Koman, Kuzgun Acar, Meriç Hızal, Haluk Tezonar, Mehmet Aksoy and Koray Ariş..

İnternational artists are also represented in the sale; Bernard Buffet’s “Femme au Grand Chapeau” oil on canvas dated 1960 has an estimation of 100,000 – 150,000 USD. Julian Opie, Gilbert&George, Arman, Robert Longo and etchings of Francis Bacon are some of the international names that will be offered on the 12th of April sale.. Olgac Artam, auctioneer of the sale, said “the collection that came together for the auction gives an opportunity to see the selected works in one exhibition.. Artam predicts that many of these works will make a great impact on the market.. The auction which will be held at Antik A.S. auction house on April 12, 2014. A special catalogue has been prepared for the collection that will be on displayed at the Antik A.S. until the auction day..
