DALLAS, TX.- The Riverboat Collection, the finest collection of Territorial gold ever offered by Heritage Auctions, highlights the offerings in the company's Central States Numismatic Society (CSNS) US Coin Signature Auction, April 23—27 in Chicago, with Platinum Night offerings on Thursday, April 24.

The Riverboat Collection, headlining Platinum Night, offers advanced collectors of Territorial gold coinage a once-in-a-lifetime chance to acquire a newly discovered variety: the unique 1855 Wass, Molitor & Co. twenty dollar gold piece, AU53 NGC, Large Head Obverse, variety unlisted in Kagin.

"This American rarity is a unique example of one of the most elusive issues in the Territorial gold series," said Heritage Co-Founder Jim Halperin. "The Riverboat specimen was probably the first Wass, Molitor Large Head twenty dollar coin to appear at auction, in a Chapman sale in 1896. It was definitely the last example to be publicly offered when it appeared in Stack's Amon G. Carter, Jr. Family Collection in 1984, more than 30 years ago."

This piece is just the beginning of the stunning diversity of the Territorial gold coins found in this collection, many of which are fully worthy of being described as national treasures. From the American Frontier, an 1855 Kellogg & Co. fifty dollar, PR64 Cameo PCGS stands as "the most beautiful of all Pioneer gold," and an 1849 Mormon ten dollar, AU58 NGC is the earliest and rarest Mormon gold coinage, with fewer than a dozen pieces known. An 1850 Dubosq & Co. ten dollar, MS60 NGC offers collectors the opportunity to own an example of one of the most challenging issues in the Territorial gold series for the first time in 27 years.

The auction will also present the #1 NGC Morgan Dollar Registry Set, the magnificent ML Moser Collection, in its own session on April 24 just before Platinum Night. This collection features a true treasure in the 1893-S Morgan dollar, MS65 NGC, as well as a select uncirculated example of an 1892-S Morgan, MS63 NGC, seldom offered at auction until now.

Condition rarities define this collection, proof of which is seen in the 1881-S Morgan dollar, MS68+ NGC, the single finest graded example of the 1881-S Morgan dollar at NGC and the only one to be awarded the special Plus and Star designations. The 1884 Morgan Dollar, MS68, NGC, is a superstar as well and one of just four known pristine examples certified by both services as MS68.

Additional featured collections include The Charles G. Wright Family Collection, Christopher Bently's Nob Hill Collection, Part II, The Dale Hopkins Collection, The Collection of Donald E. Bently, sold for the benefit of the Bently Foundation, The Jim O'Neal Collection of U.S. Type, Part One, The Northern Lights Collection, The Old New England Collection, The Collection of Philip Poier, and The Ray Levoi Collection.
