Andrew Waters, Head of Private Collections and Country House Sales, Christies: Ronald Phillips is one of the world's leading antique galleries handling some of the most important pieces of English Antique Furniture and Works of Art. We are delighted that Simon Phillips has invited Christies to bring to auction a broad and fascinating collection of selected pieces, which are a testament to his exceptional eye and expertise. Simons interest in and knowledge of English decorative arts is wide-ranging enabling him to successfully source the very finest furniture and works of art, which are invariably united by his unerring and intuitive sense of what makes them special.
Simon Phillips, Owner and Chairman, Ronald Phillips Antiques Ltd. commented: Ronald Phillips Antiques Ltd have recently moved to a smaller warehouse and as a result, after 60 years, we are in the process of a reorganisation. We are in need of more showroom and warehouse space and therefore, I am offering here at Christies a selection of furniture and decorative items that I have acquired over the years. Some pieces we have outgrown, others we have not got around to restoring and others, although wonderful are being let go to create space for fresher items. What unites all of these pieces however, will be their affordability and all lots have been estimated accordingly. I am looking forward to the auction on 2 July, whilst at the same time we will be exhibiting at Masterpiece London in June 2014 and to continue to show beautiful furniture and works of art in our gallery at Bruton Street, London. The publication of our latest catalogue in May will feature 130 selected and mainly unseen pieces representing the continuing search for excellence in the English Furniture market. We look forward to welcoming you to the gallery soon.
