NEW YORK, NY.- Station Independent Projects presents Sun Stroke, Miles Ladin's first solo exhibition with the gallery. The show features photography that originated from a 2009 commission and exhibition at Miami's Wolfsonian Museum. The body of work consists of black and white images created at exclusive hotel swimming pools and more egalitarian beaches in Miami, Los Angles, and the East Coast.
 
While photographing swimsuit-clad sun worshippers, Ladin discovered that this ritual was all about displaying the body in the hopes of being noticed and admired. The acquisition of the tan, the physique, the affluent lifestyle, are all means to entice the viewer to desire what is beheld. The tactile combinations of sun, surf and fabric when engaged with buttocks, biceps, and breasts cannot help but seduce. In these pictures, Ladin captures the natural beauty inherent in the human form as well as the aspirational desires consciously presented in the display of flesh.

Miles Ladin is most known for his sardonic pictures of the rich & famous that appeared in the pages of The New York Times and W Magazine. In 2009, a chapter of the book, The World's Top Photographer's Workshops: Celebrity & Performance profiled the artist. Since 2000, Ladin has captured NY Fashion Week for Women’s Wear Daily, most recently in his online feature “Pop Shots”. His work has been exhibited at international venues such as The Center for Photography at Woodstock, The Photographer's Gallery in London, Exit Art in New York City, The Fine Art Works Center in Provincetown, and Sàn Art in Ho Chi Minh City. His photography is included in public and private collections such as The Victoria & Albert Museum, The Library of Congress, Mr. Philippe Ségalot, and Mr. John Guare. His limited edition artist’s books are included in the Special Collection Libraries of New York’s MoMA and Whitney museums.
