ADELAIDE.- Arts Minister Jack Snelling today announced the appointment of Tracey Whiting as the new Chairperson of the
Art Gallery of South Australia Board.
Mr Snelling said that Ms Whiting brings over 30 years experience to the position, with a career as a strategic marketing specialist focusing on major events and large-scale exhibitions.
Traceys passion and commitment to the arts, along with her wealth of knowledge and expertise in the media and marketing industries will be an invaluable asset to the Art Gallery Board, Mr Snelling said.
Tracey Whiting has had a long association with the Art Gallery, developing and chairing the Art Gallerys key fundraising and membership program, Contemporary Collectors.
Since its inception in 2002 she has been instrumental in raising millions of dollars, fostering new audience development strategies and increasing private and corporate giving.
Ms Whiting said The Art Gallery of South Australia was a vital and vibrant cultural institution with over 130 years of history.
It is an honour to be appointed to this position and be part of this tradition, Ms Whiting said.

Tracey Whiting has consistently contributed to the cultural fabric of Adelaide.
She was previously a board member of the Art Gallery of South Australia and South Australian Museum, and for the past eight years has been a Director of Solstice Media Limited and Motion Publishing.
Most recently, Ms Whiting was appointed to the Cultural Advisory Committee of the 2015 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Visual Arts Festival in South Australia.
