Several $1 Million Gifts to be Announced

DEARBORN, MICHIGAN.- The Michigan-based Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services (ACCESS) officially breaks ground for the nation’s first Arab American National Museum.  The groundbreaking ceremony will be held at the Dearborn City Hall (13615 Michigan Ave., Dearborn, MI 48126) in the Council Chambers on Monday, September 29, 2003 at 2 p.m.  National and international dignitaries, elected officials, ACCESS board members, business, corporate and foundation leaders along with donors have all confirmed attendance.  Exciting major gift announcements will be made by the corporate community and others.  ACCESS also presents Simon Shaheen in concert September 30, 2003.

ACCESS proudly announces the historical event of the first Arab American National Museum.  With over 15,000 museums in the country, this will be the first to document, institutionalize and honor the cultural heritage of Arab Americans and the contributions they have made to this country.

In support of this $12.8 million project, a major gift announcement will be made by the corporate community, followed by other announcements.  ACCESS is pleased to have the generous support of our government, business and corporate communities, as well as many dedicated individuals who have also designated substantial gifts to the Museum.

The Museum will be the first of its kind in the country and will function as an educational facility, an institution of preservation and a community resource, focusing on Arab American immigration, employment, religion, history, arts, and culture, as well as achievements in science and medicine.
