LOS ANGELES, CA.- Conceived by the Italian Cultural Institute in Los Angeles (IIC) and developed by MEDIARS, ITALY ART LA offers virtual art itineraries in the entire metropolitan area through a geo-tagged system and a customized and interactive map, as well as text, images and audio-videos. The app features 300 artworks presented through short-documentaries and interviews in English, to allow more users to enjoy the tours.

Italian art in Los Angeles is arranged into three tours. The most recent one, Pasadena: an Italian Journey, is entirely dedicated to the small but rich city just north of downtown Los Angeles.

With 56 artworks, Pasadena’s Norton Simon Museum is the latest “acquisition” of ITALY ART LA. The museum is one of the main stops of the new itinerary, a journey that takes place between the real and the virtual on a trail of discovery through Italian art in Pasadena. For example, while observing the marble Baldachin inside the St. Andrew’s Church, users will learn about the famous Carrara marble caves in Tuscany. Pasadena is also home to the Huntington Library Art Collections and Botanical Gardens, which hosts 32 artworks available in the App. This latest itinerary is a nice walk in time and space meant to inspire users to learn more about Italian art and perhaps take a modern times Grand Tour.

ITALY ART LA had previously released two itineraries: From Light to Materiality, a journey from ancient to contemporary artworks at the Getty Villa, the Getty Center, UCLA and the Italian Cultural Institute, and Traces of Italy, a showcase of the Italian art and craftsmanship in Downtown Los Angeles.
