HONG KONG.- Christie’s Asia announced today the appointment of Laure Raibault as Senior Specialist, Asian 20th Century and Contemporary Art. A French citizen who speaks fluent English, French and Mandarin, Raibault brings over 10 years of experience working in the art world in England, France, the United States and Mainland China. Based in Hong Kong, she will be responsible for putting together regular auctions of Asian Contemporary Art and for advising buyers and sellers throughout the region in this all important field.

Laure Raibault graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in law and economics (2001) and a Masters in art history (2003) in Bordeaux, France, as well as a Masters in art and archaeology (2004) from the School of Oriental and African Studies in London. While pursuing her studies in Chinese art and language in Paris and Beijing, she contributed to several projects as an intern, researcher and curator at various museums and institutions in France and China, including the Musée d'Orsay in Paris. Between 2007 and 2013, she worked successively for the Chinese Contemporary Gallery and Eli Klein Fine Art in New York, as well as the Schoeni Art Gallery in Hong Kong, amongst others. Most recently, she was a senior specialist of Asian contemporary art at an international auction house in Hong Kong.

“Through her rich and interesting career path, Laure Raibault has acquired broad experience in the world of museums, galleries and auction houses. Her studies and the positions she has held in Europe, America and China have given her extensive knowledge and contacts in the field of Chinese art. Under her leadership, I have no doubt that we will be able to strengthen our sales of Asian Contemporary Art even further and answer the keen interest of collectors, in China and beyond, in this fast developing field,” said Eric Chang, Deputy Chairman of Christie’s Asia, International Director of Asian 20th Century and Contemporary Art.
