LONDON.- Since 1982 the
London Photograph Fair has been the meeting place for collectors, enthusiasts, museum curators and dealers on the hunt for original photographs, daguerrotypes, ambrotypes and stereocards, as well as photographic reference books. Taking place four times a year in Bloomsbury, the fair attracts up to 50 dealers from across the UK, Europe, and further afield.
The fair has now been taken over by a new team of organisers: Arnaud Delas, Danny Newburg, Anna Smith and Jane Orde. Delas, who is to conduct online photograph auctions at 25 Blythe Road has exhibited at the event for 14 years, while Daniel Newburg is a collector and previous exhibitor. Anna Smith has a PR background and Jane Orde, also a previous exhibitor, has worked in the art world for many years, including as PA to Howard Ricketts.
A great variety of works are on display and for sale, from Vintage Fine Art, Press and Fashion photographs, to Contemporary, Modern and 19th Century rarities. Specialist bookdealers offer a range of original and collectible photobooks as well as reference material. Prices range from a few pounds well into the thousands.
The majority of the exhibitors are based in the UK however there is a good European presence including Galerie Verdeau and Gurus Gallery, both from Paris, Eric Van Bos from Holland, Anamorfose Gallery from Belgium, and a first time exhibitor from Argentina, Eduardo Orenstein.
