Art Moscow Fair Opens

MOSCOW.- Expo-park Exhibition projects company presents the ART MOSCOW fair, which has been taking place for 5 years in the Moscow Central House of Artists. Expo-park Exhibition projects is one of the oldest and most respected independent exhibition companies on the Russian market. Since 1992 we have been working in fair organization, in developing new concepts and providing a whole range of exhibition services. Currently, we carry out 15 annual specialized exhibitions and fairs, 4 of them in collaboration with Messe Frankfurt. ART MOSCOW, will take place April 23-28 in the Moscow Central House of Artists.

Each of our exhibition projects is unique and to a great degree, experimental. We do what has been never done in Russia before. All our projects are extremely sophisticated; as they have both a cultural and an educational orientation, they form the structural basis for the markets we work with. Expo-park’s reputation and experience guarantees all of our fairs the status of an important cultural event. Among our projects are art exhibitions devoted to old and contemporary art, architecture and design. We are the legal partners of the Messe Frankfurt, Sothbey’s, European Galleries of Art Forum and other famous foreign companies.

Since 1996 with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Moscow City Hall Cultural Committee we have been organizing the International Art Fair “ART MOSCOW”. 2002 the Fair takes place from 23 to 28 April and brings together more than 30 galleries from Russia and other countries of the former Soviet Union, as well as Germany, Austria, France and Sweden.

Statistics reveal the success of the fair. Sales increased by 38 % between 2000 and 2001, although the number of members remained the same. A questionnaire handed out to all visitors showed that 13% of them came to the Fair in order to buy contemporary art. At the last Fair only 4% of the respondents declared their wish to purchase pieces of art.

The Regional Public Foundation of Art Projects Support, which has been in existence since 1998, is responsible for beneficent purchasing works of art for regional museums.

International participants of ART MOSCOW consider the Fair to be an excellent opportunity to promote contemporary art in the Russian market. Our five-year experience has shown that 80% of the foreign galleries evaluated the business opportunities of the Fair and the quality of the technical services as “good” and “very good”.

A high-quality service and special conditions for participants are ART MOSCOW’s priorities. Now we are trying to organize favorable customs procedures to facilitate the buying and selling of works of art for participants of the Fair.
