NEW YORK, NY.- Bonhams’ Post-War & Contemporary auction on November 11 experienced enthusiastic and competitive bidding, which realized a total of over $3 million.

Highlights of the evening include:

· The sale of the most valuable work ever sold by the American artist, Richard Anuszkiewicz, Soft Yellow, which sold for $191,000. Numerous telephone bidders fiercely competed for the large format 1970s painting driving the price to over double its high estimate.

· Christopher Wool’s Untitled, which saw telephone bidders and in-person attendees battling it out for the classic Wool image, finally realized $509,000, far exceeding the work’s high estimate.

· Edward Dugmore’s 1958 oil on canvas, Red and Black, which fetched $102,500, well past the high estimate.

Jeremy Goldsmith, Director of the Americas for Contemporary Art at Bonhams, said, “This evening’s sale of Post-War & Contemporary Art saw spirited bidding from around the globe. The exceptional sales of works by abstract expressionist painter, Edward Dugmore, illustrated that iconic works that are fresh to the market indeed demand high prices.”

Bonhams’ next Post-War & Contemporary Art auction will be held in London in February 2015, and in May 2015 in New York.
