NEW YORK, NY.- Phillips announces the third and final installment of its great fall 2014 sale: Photographs from the Collection of The Art Institute of Chicago. The sale is an online-only auction which offers 146 lots from the same distinguished source at a more accessible price point.

The online auction will run until 22 December and comprises 146 lots. The initial Art Institute photography sale, its first in Photography since collecting began at that institution more than sixty years ago, took place in New York on 1 October and achieved more than 90% of its presale estimate. Strong results were achieved for photographs by Henri Cartier-Bresson, Edward Weston, Ansel Adams, Walker Evans and Aaron Siskind while an auction record was set for the contemporary artist Robert Heinecken. The success of that first sale was repeated in London on 18 November, with a concentration there on works by Gertrude Käsebier, Julia Margaret Cameron and Eliot Porter.

The combined sales have totalled $2,252,152. These strong results reflect the dedicated presentation of fresh material with a stellar museum provenance.

The online sale features a wide and attractive range of works by many leading names: Berenice Abbott, André Kertész, Aaron Siskind, Edward Weston and Garry Winogrand, among the many established figures in this sale. A more accessible price point will make this inaugural online sale particularly desirable for younger collectors.
